Textile Mills

Full description
In the early 1800s, textile mills became a norm in the northeast. While this image depicts the mills in Lowell, M.A., they were very similar at varying locations. It was also at this historical moment when the concept of 'time' became very important. As Pearson notes, everyone came and left at once, arriving when they were expected to and departing at the end of the day. As a result of this, watches became a popular accessory following the Industrial Revolution.
