Full description
Although somewhat forgotten by the archival records of Schenectady County, the area has a rich history regarding African Americans which they have come to recognize in recent years. In addition to the information presented in the article attached, the first African American church, Duryee Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, was founded in the city in 1837, showing the historical presence of the community within the city.
