This is the first iteration of the student-created digital scholarly edition of the Diary of Jonathan Pearson (1813-87), student (class of ’35), professor, librarian, and treasurer of Union College, New York. This edition covers the first four years of Pearson's diary and provides supplementary material to facilitate the diary's understanding--explanatory annotations, an interactive chronology, interpretive and historical essays, contextual primary sources, and data visualizations--all created by the student editors.

This digital edition is the student project for the Summer Institute for Digital Exploration at Schaffer ("Summer IDEaS") 2021, Union's digital scholarship summer program, co-taught by Schaffer librarians Adam Mazel (program creator and lead instructor), Lindsay Bush, Joanna DiPasquale, Becky Fried, Matt Golebiewski, Jen Grayburn, and Rachel Leach.
