Chain Bridge

The Chain Bridge in Newburyport, Massachusetts is considered to be the first suspension bridge in the United States and connected Newburyport and Amesbury, Massachusetts across the Merrimack River. The image in this postcard is of the bridge before it was demolished. A replica of the 1810 bridge was built in its place.
